I admit that I am late to the Wordle craze, but once I tried it, I was addicted! I also admit that I don’t post it on Facebook for all to see. However, I do have a small group that I share my results with daily to keep me honest. One of the things I like about it is the fact that it’s one word a day. I tend to play other word games as well and try to stick to the daily challenge, but also find I get caught up and play rather than doing the dishes or mowing the lawn. It’s mindless yet you’re using your mind. I’ve also convinced myself that these daily word/mind games keep my mind active and will hopefully help me avoid Alzheimer’s or the like, since my dad was diagnosed, and I’d rather avoid that.
It’s fascinating how a game can catch the world by fire and spread with so many variations. I’ve now seen Heardle, Sweardle, Emojidle, Dogsdle, Worldle, Queerdle and so many more. The game that caught my eye to pen this ‘Buzz’ was Airportle, a game where the guesses and answers are three-letter airport codes. And those of us in the travel industry certainly have an opportunity for a higher success rate than others on that one since much of the population has no idea what an airport code even is.
It does surprise me that there isn’t a game for the travel industry or those that love to travel more broadly than Airportle. Wordle has you guess a country, Subwaydle a valid NYC subway trip, Globle another country — I feel like there could be a word game that varies between destinations, modes of travel, beaches, cruise ports and so much more. Maybe that’s too broad? What would it be called? Travdle perhaps?
