When people think of Las Vegas, a lot of times their first thought is gambling. While this is one of the biggest attractions, travelers are also drawn to this city for several other reasons. Visitors can head to one of the many shopping malls, enjoy an array of entertainment, immerse themselves in the nightlife and, of course, treat themselves to fine dining.
While the spring and summer months mean enjoying hot temperatures and pool parties, there are many reasons to visit in the winter as well. The temperatures in Las Vegas stay mild throughout the year, which means the weather in the winter is still pleasant. Whether it’s during the holiday season or a long weekend mid-winter, the MGM Resorts International portfolio of hotels invites guests to experience the many winter activities available.
Holiday Festivities
If the holiday season is giving you the urge to take a trip, Las Vegas awaits with plenty of festive happenings. Those hoping to jump right into the holiday spirit can visit Coke Zero “Cool Yule” at Beerhaus in The Park. Here guests are treated to twinkling lights, festive décor and live entertainment. It’s open now through December 31, 2022, and admission is free.
Another holiday festivity adored by many and available in Las Vegas is ice skating. For the 11th year in a row, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has opened its Ice Rink for guests to enjoy. Equipped with a 65-foot marquee playing classic holiday films and a rink-side café serving up classic comfort foods, visitors can enjoy this favorite pastime through December 25, 2022.The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (photo courtesy of MGM Resorts International)
There are also several displays to check out during the holiday season. One is “Gingerbread Dreams” at Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Garden, featuring a snowy village, polar bears and a 42-foot holiday tree. Additionally, ARIA Resort & Casino welcomes visitors in to see the 28-foot “North Star” display situated right in the lobby. Both displays are complimentary and available until early January.
Winter Experiences
Though the holiday season comes and goes, there are still plenty of experiences to enjoy throughout the winter months – one being seeing a show at Park MGM’s Dolby Live. Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, this venue hosts a variety of headliners, including Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars. Its unique design ensures an intimate experience for everyone in the house, as no seat is more than 145 feet away from the stage.

Whenever visitors need a break from the shopping and shows, there are a number of spas in Las Vegas to book a relaxing treatment at. Some of them even have special winter treatments on offer. For example, Spa Mandalay Bay has a 60-minute Winter Glow Blowout; Luxor’s Nurture Spa and Salon is featuring a 50-minute Winter Warmth Facial, and The Spa at Excalibur is offering a 50-minute Winter Recovery Massage.
Any vacation is topped off by indulging in delicious meals between events, and there is no shortage of dining experiences in Las Vegas. From casual eateries to fancy restaurants, visitors should have no problem finding something they enjoy. This winter, MGM Resorts’ ARIA Resort & Casino is welcoming a new elevated food hall called Proper Eats. Spanning 24,000 square feet, Proper Eats will include several culinary offerings and a wide range of cocktails.
