The United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) recently announced the 2024 USTOA Future Lights of the Tour Industry recipients. Launched in 2022 during USTOA’s 50th anniversary, the Future Lights program recognizes up-and-coming leaders of the Tour Industry. Tour operator members are invited to nominate coworkers who have made meaningful differences in their companies and the communities they interact with to embrace and address critical sustainability and DEI issues.
The 2024 Future Lights are Alison Atkinson, commercial director and executive team member, Avanti Destinations, and B Lavornia, senior region and account manager, WorldStrides.
There were many noteworthy nominations carefully considered by the judging panel for the USTOA Future Lights of the Tour Industry that included Emma Cottis, general manager of Business Systems, Goway Travel; Derek Hydon, president, MaCher; Greg Takehara, CEO, Tourism Cares; and Kelly P. Sahner, chief commercial officer, Trip Mate.

It is such an honor to welcome Alison and B as USTOA Future Lights of the Tour Industry. These two individuals are outstanding examples of the kind of creative drive and initiative needed to guide our industry to a more sustainable and equitable future for us all.
The USTOA Future Lights will be welcomed and acknowledged during the USTOA Annual Conference and Marketplace in Marco Island, FL December 9-13, 2024.
Thank you to our panel of evaluators for their time, thought and care in reviewing the nominations. On behalf of our members, I also want to express our gratitude to our program sponsor, Trip Mate, for their unwavering support.
Congratulations to Alison and B, who exemplify the values, ingenuity and passion we envisioned as a USTOA Future Light. I cannot wait to watch you all shine in your future endeavors.
