In early February, AMResorts, part of Apple Leisure Group (ALG), broke ground on two new all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic.

Secrets Playa Esmerelda Punta Cana and Dreams Playa Esmerelda Punta Cana will be located in Miches, a secluded area on the northeast coast of the island, poising Miches to become a new top all-inclusive market in the DR, according to ALG leadership. The two resorts will be part of Playa Esmerelda, a $400 million hospitality development. According to ALG, the two resorts will be the backbone of the new resort area which will encompass almost 1,500 hotel units and feature a promenade to be shared by all hotels in the area, a convention center, a live entertainment theatre, retail, gourmet restaurants and a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa.

“These new deals underscore ALG’s unwavering commitment to the Dominican Republic and the goal of participating in unique projects that benefit our investors as well as the surrounding communities,” said Alejandro Reynal, CEO of ALG. “We will be working closely with our partners, as well as Miches residents, to ensure we exceed the expectations of the guests, while also bringing true, long-term value to the area.”

Opening dates for the properties have not yet been announced.
