As we enter the holiday season, the VAX team is taking the time to reflect on one of our favorite things about this time of year: the food. From hardy comfort dishes that make us feel warm and fuzzy to seasonal flavors that bring us joy, join us as we get excited for the upcoming festivities.

“I would have to say my favorite holiday food is my southern grandmother’s homemade stuffing made with cornbread and biscuits. Although she is no longer around to serve this legendary stuffing, it’s a great way for our family to remember her. All nine of us grandchildren made sure we got the recipe.” Row Bailey, marketing coordinator for VAX VacationAccess

“My favorite holiday food is pumpkin pie. The dessert never fails to be a point of entertainment for my family as we end up with slices that are more Cool Whip than pie. My grandma also makes a delicious pie crust which is worthy of an honorable mention in and of itself.” Jenna Buege, senior editor for VAX VacationAccess

“My favorite holiday food is canned cranberry sauce. It isn’t that I love to eat it, although, I do enjoy it, it’s more the memories. Every year it gets put into a pretty dish, covered with plastic wrap and placed in the fridge. Then, it stays there until, usually around the end of the meal or even after someone realizes it’s missing from the table, we remember it. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving if we didn’t forget about the one food we only bring out for a Thanksgiving dinner.” Sarah Kneisler, director of marketing for VAX VacationAccess

“My favorite holiday beverage is eggnog. Something about eggnog immediately puts me in the holiday spirit (And adding some spirits to it makes it even better!),” Joe Shomperlen, VP of business development for VAX VacationAccess

“Like Jenna, my favorite holiday food is pie with whipped cream. Personally, I enjoy the process of baking apple crumb or pecan pie with homemade crust from scratch and feel so accomplished when I make a pie that both looks and tastes good! However, the best part of a pie is topping it with astronomical quantities of Reddi Whip and it wouldn’t be the holidays without laughing as my dad serves grandkids with whipped cream straight from the can! Even our canine friends get in on the action.” Carey Driscoll, business development manager for VAX VacationAccess

“Is it possible to pick just one? While sweet potatoes popped into my head first, I have to go with stuffing. My mom always makes a family recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation, and I look forward to it every year.” Codie Liermann, managing editor for VAX VacationAccess

“My favorite holiday food is my grandma’s noodles. It’s just egg noodles in a gravy sauce I think, but mixing it with corn over mashed potatoes is the best and very nostalgic. The best part is she usually makes extra so we get to eat the leftovers the next day too. This reminds me, I should really get that recipe!” Kati Kohler, marketing supervisor for VAX VacationAccess
