It’s hard to beat the feeling of spending time with the ones you love doing one of the best things in the world: traveling. In the mood to take a walk down memory lane, we asked the team at VAX VacationAccess to share some of their favorite family travel memories. Here’s what they had to say.
“When on a girls' trip with my daughter, the resort staff at Royalton Negril went out of their way to celebrate Brianna’s birthday. As a Mom, I loved having that time with her and seeing how special she felt when being celebrated by their amazing team. One of the best trips ever!” Vonda Keeler, brand ambassador for VAX VacationAccess
“When I was little my grandma took me on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Egypt. It was my first guided tour experience and was so perfect as it accommodated the desires of all age groups, and everything was taken care of for us. We had so much fun dancing on the river cruise, swimming in the Nile and exploring the historical landmarks without worrying about the logistics.” Kati Kohler, marketing supervisor for VAX VacationAccess
“My family used to spend a week on an island in Canada every summer. We would spend time fishing, swimming, hiking, relaxing by the campfire and simply enjoying time together. One evening, we were out on the boat and got caught in the rain. We decided to stick it out and all huddled under my dad’s massive umbrella that was in the boat with us. We ended up catching the most fish of the trip that evening and were also treated to a view of a beautiful double rainbow. It’s a simple, special memory that will always stick with me.” Codie Liermann, managing editor for VAX VacationAccess
“My family and I visited Puerto Vallarta in December 2019 — our last vacation before we couldn’t go many places for a while! My husband and I were excited to take our kids on a whale-watching tour. After several hours with unimpressed, seasick kids, we’d only spotted two humpbacks at a great distance. We thought the day was a total bust. Just when the boat was about to return to the marina, we had the surprise of a lifetime when a male humpback suddenly appeared under our boat for about 12 minutes! It was impressive and slightly terrifying to see his head extending beyond the boat’s bow, his tail past the stern and his pectoral fins on either side. He surfaced several times to get a better look at us and was so close, we could have touched him if we wanted to (we didn’t). An experience I’ll never forget!” Carey Driscoll, business development manager for VAX VacationAccess
“My favorite vacations are always our family vacations, so it makes it hard to choose which one is at the top of the list. I always love doing our multi-generation family trips, but I think my favorite is my family trip to Disney. We waited until the kids were at the age where we thought they would remember more, have the patience for lines, the stamina for walking and still be young enough to enjoy the magic. We stayed on the property and spent nine days exploring the parks and making memories. We booked special dinners and incorporated surprises throughout the trip and years later my kids still like to see the pictures and share the memories.” Sarah Kneisler, director of marketing for VAX VacationAccess
“I have so many fun family travel memories, it’s impossible to choose just one. My top three favorites are 1) a fishing trip I took with my dad in high school where we drove from Wisconsin to Florida — stops at Gatorland and Waffle House were a must —, 2) a multi-generational trip with my mom and grandma to Washington D.C. where we visited museums and ate Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and 3) a family road trip to Great Smoky Mountains national park where we stayed in a cabin in the woods and drank (and bought) way too much moonshine.” Jenna Buege, senior editor for VAX VacationAccess
