A travel experience is the best gift you can give. I’m sure you’ve heard that phrase or maybe even used it in some of your own year-end marketing campaigns.

In just this year alone, I’ve had the privilege to visit amazing destinations and know just how precious travel memories can be. It’s not just the sights, sounds, and smells that make these places so special. It is about the people. It is an experience to see the warmth and depth of humanity. To experience a feeling of oneness with those who are an ocean away. Of course, these are the same feelings that anyone who has traveled can experience from people of all nations.

What a wonderful opportunity we have, to sell travel. So many different cultures within a flight, train ride, bus ride, or cruise. World-class shopping. Food that will tempt. Natural beauty as well as the beauty of the inspiring and historic architecture and artwork. Although I have seen some of the top sights in world, there are many more on my bucket list. What’s on your bucket list for next year? What travel memories and gifts can you make possible for your clients?

As the President of KHM Travel Group, I had the opportunity to build a company that employs people so they can flourish and be the best they can be. Each day, I have the honor and privilege to share our Core Values and watch our team play them out in the industry and the world. Generosity and Community are two of those Core Values that are top of mind this time of year.

Being an active member of your community is usually advice given to those who want to network and raise awareness about their business. That is often the case, but what I’ve found is that the result of helping others is more rewarding than any new booking or publicity gained.

Through our KHM Cares charitable initiatives, we’ve been able to help our community through food drives, collections, event sponsorships, volunteering, and monetary donations. We just wrapped up our Giving Tree drive in which we gifted Christmas presents to local families in need. Giving back is one of my biggest passions and I encourage all business owners to make every effort to give back whenever possible.

This is a season is about gifts. Gifts of sharing our talents, time, and resources to help others. Because ultimately, helping others is what being a travel professional is all about.
