For more than 50 years, animal rescue and rehabilitation has been the heart of SeaWorld. From habitat protection and supporting ocean health initiatives to our many rescue and rehabilitation efforts, SeaWorld is part of conservation projects across the globe. This is our mission and we want to inspire others to take action and join us in the efforts to save wild animals and wild places.

With all of those rescues, SeaWorld Orlando continues our company’s commitment to rescuing and caring for marine animals.
SeaWorld's legacy of animal rescue spans more than 50 years. In that time, SeaWorld’s Rescue Teams have come to the aid of more than 31,000 sick, injured and orphaned animals in need, giving them a second chance at life. None of this would be possible without the continued support of our partner agencies, park guests, Pass Members, and dedicated team members, as well as the people across the globe taking action to protect these amazing animals and their habitats. Our teams are on call 24/7/365, partnering with multiple government agencies to rescue and help animals in need of our care.
Conservation Efforts
SeaWorld is committed to protecting the environment and preserving our future by inspiring others to act. SeaWorld Orlando and our company actively supports environmental conservation by providing financial and scientific support to organizations focused on animal rescue and rehabilitation, conservation education, habitat protection, and species research. Additionally, the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund has donated more than $14 million, supporting animal conservation projects on all seven continents across the globe, including coral reef restoration, preventing coastal erosion, habitat protection and simply keeping our oceans clean.
We actively support efforts protecting our oceans and coral reefs, seeking sustainable food sources for park guests and our animal, as well as our on-going animal rescues.

We’ve joined forces with governmental agencies and organizations to inspire and protect animals through personal, interactive and informative experiences.
Marine & Ocean Conservation with the Humane Society of the United States
SeaWorld and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) have partnered to work together as advocates for the ocean and its animals. Together we will focus on ending commercial killing of whales, seals and other marine animals. Our mutual efforts include leveraging SeaWorld’s world-class rescue, research and resources, protecting coral reefs, preventing over-exploitation of fish and protecting our oceans for future generations.
Shark Rescue & Conservation with Guy Harvey
World-renowned artist and marine conservationist Guy Harvey is actively working with SeaWorld to help raise awareness on protecting sharks and their natural habitats. The Guy Harvey Research Institute estimates that up to 73 million sharks per year are killed for the fin trade alone. SeaWorld has helped with his team’s research on shark-tagging expeditions, as well as informing the public about shark conservation through storytelling within our Mako hyper-coaster queue and realm.
Oceanic Research with OCEARCH
SeaWorld and OCEARCH are brands focused on the global conservation of marine animals and the world’s oceans. We’re both purpose-driven organizations; we love the ocean and want to ensure an abundant resource for future generations. Together, we will focus on bringing everyday people closer to the water by sharing real-time data, content, and park experiences.
Killer Whales
In 2016, SeaWorld announced that we were ending our killer whale breeding program and that the orcas in our care are the last generation at our park. Our goal is to inspire and educate guests to take action by seeing these magnificent animals up-close to better understand why protecting wildlife and our environment is so critical today.
This is the last generation of orcas in our care, but they are still here and will be cared for at SeaWorld for decades to come. Our goal is to help our guests, and the world, explore the wonders around them, and then inspire them to take action to protect wild animals and wild places. SeaWorld’s killer whales are vital to that mission, and while they will be the last generation of killer whales at SeaWorld, they will still be around for decades to come, inspiring millions of guests and people across the globe to take action with us today.
