I am so ready for takeoff. Who is with me?
I will admit that I am one that has a terrible case of pandemic fatigue. I need to feel the sand in my toes, the fresh salty spray of the sea on my face and to step into a pool that allows me to swim up, order the drink of the moment and float around laughing and living life with friends or family with no Netflix or Hulu in sight. Yet interestingly, I am still not overly excited about the fact that we have now hit December in Wisconsin, so the outdoor dining experience is limited or nonexistent at best. I, personally, am still very guarded about where I go when I leave the house, and would prefer to just hunker down to see this virus take its leave of all of us.
If one were to offer me the opportunity to travel internationally however, I would jump at it in a heartbeat. Here is the thing: I have plenty of connections on social media and many resources to tell me that this type of travel makes me feel safer than heading to the grocery store! I’ve read plenty of articles explaining why travel on an airplane is nothing to fret about and I believe this to be true. I adore the many advisors that have set out to show the world that travel is safe again. There are so many of you that are sharing and documenting the experience of your travels with images, videos or Facebook Live events that promote the fantastic protocols that you’re seeing as you pave the way for the world to get back to travel. Of course, each property has different practices, but seeing the disinfectant of luggage, sealed rooms, masking of all staff, examples of social distancing and so much more make me trust that travel can safely happen. I believe with all my heart that the world is ready to again be explored and experienced. If we all take a bit of care about how we respect each other, and begin to forge new habits, we can revive this industry and our love to explore new destinations, cultures and expand our horizons. I’m seriously ready for takeoff!
Now excuse me as I go place my next grocery store delivery order because the grocery store still scares me.
