While many tourists know about Cancun and Los Cabos, Mexico is home to an array of perhaps less familiar, yet equally beautiful and intriguing destinations. Sometimes the perfect vacation is to somewhere new or unexpected, which is why agents play an important role in educating travelers about areas that are a little off the beaten path. In Mexico, a few of these places include Ixtapa, Acapulco and Huatulco, all situated on the Pacific coast. These three destinations are home to beautiful beaches, sites of cultural significance and much more, each with luxury resort options to fit all guest needs while giving them the opportunity to explore these lesser known spots.

Ixtapa

This beautiful beach town is a small, luxury resort community located just a short ten-minute drive from Zihuatanejo, a laid-back, remote seaside fishing village. This location offers guests the chance to vacation their own way, with easy access not only to the gorgeous beaches and nearby nightlife, but also to cultural sites like the Meso-American La Chole Archeological Ruins. Travelers on a fun-filled family holiday or a romantic getaway can stay at Sunscape® Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa for a vacation they won’t soon forget. The surrounding area is full of options for leisure and adventure, but there is plenty to do and experience on the resort property as well! Between the Sunscape Spa by Pevonia®, Explorer’s Club for Kids and Core Zone Teen’s Club, plus Sunny’s Place splash park and multiple waterslides, this AMResorts® branded property truly has something for everyone.

Acapulco

South of Ixtapa sits the city of Acapulco de Juarez. More commonly referred to simply as Acapulco, the town is located on a deep, semicircular bay and is known for its vibrant local murals and authentic cuisine. Dreams® Acapulco Resort & Spa, in the Golden Zone of Acapulco, will be opening later this year to offer guests Unlimited-Luxury®, no wristbands required, which includes limitless access to gourmet dining, premium beverages, and day to night entertainment. Vacationers will be a quick trip away from several local points of interest including La Quebrada, where tourists can watch cliff divers while taking in amazing views, and La Isla Shopping Village for souvenirs, fine jewelry and more.

Huatulco

Another step to the south lies Huatulco, a sustainable tourism destination recognized for its commitment to the local environment. Composed of nine unique bays in total, Huatulco has a large variety of atmospheres and activities to offer. For example, there is Dreams® Huatulco Resort & Spa in the picturesque Tangolunda Bay, as well as Secrets® Huatulco Resort & Spa in the more secluded Conejos Bay, with golden sand beaches, stunning rock formations and sapphire waters. Both properties have on-site Mezcalerias, where guests can taste-test and purchase authentic Mezcal, and are also near incredible sights including the Copalita Eco-Archeological Park, an over 2,000-year-old settlement and the only site of its kind in Mexico, as well as the Sierra Madre Mountains – home to one of Mexico’s finest coffee grains.

There is relaxation, adventure and new experiences to be found beyond the more well-known destinations. It’s up to travel agents to share insights and help match guests with the best fit for an amazing vacation in destinations ripe for hospitality. Sharing key tips, like the fact that the best time to visit Mexico’s west coast is November through March when the rainy season has come to a close, will ensure travelers make the most of their visits.
