With new openings, reopenings and exciting upcoming plans, 2020 is off to a great start for Marriott International. Here’s what to expect from the hotelier within the next few years.

New Openings

Aloft San Juan
In early February, Marriott International announced the opening of its first Aloft hotel in the Caribbean, Aloft San Juan. The property is located nearby the Isla Grande Airport and Miramar, Old San Juan, and offers 177 modern rooms styled in a loft-inspired design. Aloft San Juan’s unique blend of technology, art and music makes it stand out from other Caribbean offerings and Marriott International is particularly excited about W XYZ, the hotel’s colorful bar that acts as a multipurpose space that’s perfect for working and networking during the day and exciting nightlife after dark.

Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Nestled along the scenic coastline of San José del Cabo, Mexico, a stay at Zadún leaves travelers feeling fully immersed in the panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez. Each Zadún room is designed to celebrate the beauty of nature by blurring the line between indoors and out with massive walkout patios that overlook the ocean below and décor that includes fine textiles and finishes crafted by Mexican artisans. This taste of luxury continues throughout the resort with relaxing offerings at Spa Alkemia and fine dishes prepared at Humo, an upscale restaurant where fire is the main ingredient.

Reopening

Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort
Marriott Hotels announced the reopening of Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort after the property underwent a massive $40 million renovation before welcoming travelers in late 2019. The redesign touched all 336 rooms and includes the latest innovative design thinking from the Marriott Hotels Brand. Guests can expect clean and crisp concepts throughout the resort including an open-air lobby and a theme of soothing neutrals and earth tones throughout the grounds. Every guest room offers access to a private balcony with a pool or ocean view, plush bedding, spa-grade bathrooms and a large flat-screen TV.

Future Plans

Jamaica and Curacao
Marriott Internationalhas plans for an 800-room Marriott hotel in Jamaica and a 283-room Autograph Collection on Curacao, both of which will break ground in 2020. The Jamaican hotel will be called Marriott Hotel Al Amaterra and the property is being built along the northern coast of Trelawney. The Autograph Collection in Curacao is planned for an oceanfront site within the historical Pietermaai district.

Mexico City
Moxy is coming to Mexico City as Marriott International announced a signed contract for a 120-room hotel in the stylish Chapultepec area. Construction on Moxy Mexico City is expected to begin in late 2020 and the design will draw on elements inspired by the Roma Norte neighborhood and its hipster culture, exciting nightlife and contemporary art scene. Each guest room will be small yet cozy and will feature functional furniture and tech-savvy touches to appeal to the millennial traveler.

Playa Del Carmen
The W Hotels brand is venturing into Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for the first time thanks to an agreement between Marriott International and Fibra Inn. The property will be located in Playa del Carmen and will feature 218 rooms within walking distance to all of the area’s best entertainment, shopping and restaurants. The hotel will be modern yet luxurious with a bold design complete with the brand’s signature Whatever/Whenever service and innovative programming. The hotel opening is slated for 2023.
