The recent buzz about cruising from the latest hint of a positive update from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has renewed my sense of excitement about returning to the sea!

Honestly, probably due to “The Love Boat,” cruising was my dream vacation as I was growing up. I do realize that you all now know exactly what level of baby boomer I am now, but I adored the show as a young girl dreaming not only of the romance, but just the feeling of vacationing on the ocean. I was an avid swimmer from a very young age and so water never really intimidated me. Now as a grown adult, I’ve had the privilege to cruise many times for work – how great is that? And to top it all off, I’ve met Captain Stubbing a couple of times now and have to say, my experience has been wonderful.

My adult dream now is to cruise with my family. I also had really hoped that my 25th anniversary with my husband would’ve been spent on a cruise but alas, this year it came and went without that dream turning into a reality. I also want to experience that full family vacation on a cruise at least once, too.

Many of my colleagues have no interest in stepping on a cruise ship at all! I cannot wait until I have that next opportunity. I, like so many others, have been feeling some serious withdrawal symptoms that I’d like to see vanish.

A few reasons I love cruising:

  • The serenity of the sea. Opening the balcony doors to sit and enjoy the view and sounds for my morning coffee. The last thing before I go to sleep every single night at sea is to go out on the dark balcony, and gaze up at the stars, listen to the water as we sail and feel that deeply spiritual feeling that fills my soul. Even when there is weather, I will often go out with discretion of course. Ha!
  • Watching the dolphins frolic at the back of the ship and seeing a whale tail or two flipping in the distance is so exhilarating.
  • Sitting at an outside bar having drinks and socializing with friends, or strangers becoming friends.
  • Lying in bed and feeling the gentle rocking lulling me to sleep.
  • Walking the deck in the fresh morning air to get some exercise.

Oh gosh, there are so many things that I just love about cruising. This is just the top things that come to mind. Curious what others find their favorite things. Share with me in the comments.
