At the end of each year, Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection celebrates its top travel advisor partners at the Confidant Connect Live event. This year’s event took place at Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club, and I was able to attend and help celebrate these advisor icons. Many of the attendees chose to fly into the new Tulum International Airport, which is only a 40-50 minute drive to the hotel, as opposed to the two hours it takes to drive from the Cancun International Airport.
As a new build that opened in October of 2023, I was eager to explore the property and see how it compares to others in the brand portfolio. Read on to hear all about my experience.
The Vibe
There isn’t one specific vibe that stands out, as there are so many nooks and crannies of the resort to enjoy. Guests can hang out in a quiet area at one of the rooftop pools or find a more active and central pool area with activities. The resort is adults-only and is ideal for either couples or groups of friends. There is a boho-elegant design throughout the property, with cenote-inspired architecture – a nod to its location.

How I Felt
Excited. With this being a brand-new property, and so much different than other Secrets hotels I’ve visited, I was eager to explore. Usually I can get my bearings pretty quickly after arriving at a resort, but it took me awhile to figure out where everything was here. The property is set up in circles, and I found it was easiest to walk along the top levels in order to have an aerial view – another perk to walking along the top is it also gives you a chance to take in the lush surroundings.
The Digs
I was lucky enough to stay in a Preferred Club Rooftop Master Suite with Plunge Pool, and it was quite spacious at 4,729 sq. ft. Amenities for this room category include a full bathroom with a hot tub, furnished balcony with a hot tub and access to the preferred club areas, among many others. What really sets it apart though is its expansive rooftop area with loungers, a plunge pool and 360-degree views.

The Agenda
As mentioned earlier, I was attending a conference at the resort, so I didn’t have a ton of time to explore at leisure. However, included in our itinerary was an early morning sound healing session, a visit to the spa for hydrotherapy and an afternoon tour of the nearby Zamna Beach Club. Secrets Tulum is not located on the beach, but guests can take a short, complimentary shuttle ride to the beach club to get their toes in the beautiful white sand.
The Eats
There are a few dining experiences that stood out to me, one being The Grotto. Open for lunch, it’s exclusively for guests staying in Preferred Club rooms. I enjoyed the Truffled Mushroom Flatbread, Guajillo Shrimp and Crab and Cheese Macaroni. As far as uniqueness goes, Bluewater Grill wins in this department. It has a tropical outdoor setting with relaxed lighting and feels like you’re dining in the jungle. Jasmine is also worthy of a mention. This restaurant serves a variety of Asian and Peruvian fusion menu items for dinner and is also open to Preferred Club guests for breakfast.

Why I Would Go Back
There are many reasons why I’d go back to Secrets Tulum, and some include the wonderful service, the unique room categories and its ideal location right in Tulum. With nine pools, a nearby beach club and endless activities like biking, dancing lesson, Mayan lessons and more, I’d find it hard to run out of things to do while staying at the property.
