The Vibe

Nothing feels more exclusive than driving down the entire length of the Cancun hotel zone, passing by all the other resorts and arriving at Reflect Cancun Resort & Spa, arguably the best location in the entire area.

Once in the lobby, you just have to look up – the round tower surrounds you and the cool glass ceiling draws you in. A quick walk outside brought us to the Altitude Tower (the VIP section) to check in, and we had a perfect view of a pool, where a few families but mostly younger adults lounged and did what vacationers do best: relaxed.

Having our own VIP check-in area just added to the exclusivity.

How I Felt

Important. Not in a status kind of way, where I was more important than anyone else, but I felt important to the staff of the resort. Everyone, from the Altitude Tower bartender to our yoga instructor was dedicated to ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of my husband and me. And they treated everyone at the resort in the same way – the staff was caring and welcoming.

The Digs

My room was light, bright and airy. The crisp white walls were complemented by warm, brown wood accents. The balcony had the best view of Cancun – you could see the curve of the shoreline as it stretched all the way down the hotel zone.

Back to the room. The modern, clean design felt refreshing and relaxing. It was spacious. It was open. It was perfect. And the view – again, it was awesome.

The Agenda

Our agenda was packed from day one; we really wanted to make the most of our time at Reflect. We started with lunch at The Grill, where we were delighted to find a menu of ceviches! After taking time to explore the resort on our own, we hit up the Altitude Pool for a bit then had dinner on the beach. The scene was straight out of The Bachelor so I obviously loved it.

We started day two with breakfast at Restaurant O, where our buffet options were abundant, from classic Mexican dishes like chilaquiles to simple things like toast and fruit. Then we headed poolside for mixology class where I was one of the lucky guest bartenders and learned how to make a spicy mango margarita. Yum. Then we relaxed with a couple’s massage at the spa, where we walked down the coolest hallway ever to get to the treatment room. Dinner that night was the best. We walked a quick five minutes off the resort to Hacienda el Mortero for a traditional Mexican meal.

Day three started with oceanside yoga and the best view of Cancun in the background. We had more pool time at the Altitude Pool to soak up the last of that view I can’t stop talking about. Dinner that night was Italian from the Risotto restaurant. Goat cheese salad, creamy tomato soup and rich risotto finished with affogato.

The Eats

Looks like I covered this topic! You can tell the food was great when it’s the main focus of your experience. But the most stand-out culinary event during my stay at Reflect was the ceviche menu and the helpful pointer that our server Alejandro gave us: eat ceviche with tortilla chips. Fresh ones – still warm from the oven. I had never done that before and what a game changer. Ceviche is already delicious but adding crunch to it puts it off the charts.

Why I Would Go Back

The view. The location. The service. So many reasons.
