The Vibe

In the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the Hyatt Centric just opened in late 2021 and feels like a fresh boutique hotel (162 rooms) in a prime location. The décor features rich hues of jade and rose alongside nods to the city’s history like the photos of early 20th century opera patrons adorning the elevator walls.  I enjoyed that it felt elevated and modern without an ounce of pretentiousness.

How I Felt

Welcomed. From the moment we walked through the front door and were greeted by the friendly front desk staff and the hotel’s spa-like signature scent, I knew we had found a comfortable home base within the heart of the city. I liked being able to stay active at Hyatt Centric in the small but modern gym in the hotel’s lower level.

The Digs

My room was a standard room with king bed and even though it’s the entry-level accommodations, I felt very relaxed in it. The décor was modern and fun with plenty of space for my belongings, a small desk for work, coffee maker and mini-fridge, iron & ironing board and plenty of outlets including USB ports. The bathroom’s walk-in marble shower with BeeKind lemongrass amenities were reminiscent of the lobby’s scent. The housekeeper even used a similar linen spray when she made up my bed, which I loved.

The Agenda

My travel companion and I were in the city for a travel trade show and were in and out of the hotel for several days between our meetings. We found it to be a great location with easy access to everywhere we wanted to be—including a quick jaunt over a few blocks to catch the start of New York’s famed St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

The Eats

The Hyatt Centric is home the Ramerino Prime Italian Restaurant near the lobby serving breakfast and dinner plus a full bar. We enjoyed a prosecco nightcap one evening and breakfast the next day.  Eggs benedict and French toast made for a hearty, delicious start to the day. There’s also a small coffee bar with grab & go items like pastries and fruit. It was nice to have easily-accessible options before or after a busy day in the city.

Why I Would Go Back

I would absolutely stay at the Hyatt Centric the next time New York calls my name. The hotel has a few suites with balconies (not too common in the city) and views of the Empire State Building – I’d love to snag one of those next time!  There’s also a rooftop bar opening at the hotel soon which I’d like to check out.
