Nancy Joyce, a connected agent at Travel Best Bets, recently did a split stay at two Princess Hotels & Resorts properties in Punta Cana, Grand Bavaro Princess and Caribe Deluxe Princess, and she’s sharing all about her experience on The Compass:

The Vibe

At the Caribe Deluxe Princess, I felt I was in a large property that had many choices of pools (the quiet pool or the “active” pool). The option of having the Platinum Princess was a bonus, as this allowed me to dine in an adult-only area that was quiet and away from all of the action.

At the Grand Bavaro Princess, one of the things I noticed almost immediately was how I felt close to nature and how uncrowded the resort felt, despite being almost at capacity. With the mangrove forest and ability to walk through and experience nature, the property felt very well designed. This property has a family-only area (the Family Club Princess that features swim-up pools on the ground level), but I had a room that was closer to the beach and on the other side of the lobby from the Family Club.

How I Felt

Relaxed. The Caribe Princess, with the Platinum Princess package, allowed me to find space to relax and read, or have a nice meal. The Grand Bavaro, with the mangroves, was a blessing to be able to escape from the crowds, although there were few at this resort. Both resorts featured transportation to get guests around the resort on a hop-on, hop-off basis. This is a must for properties of this size.

Partying. There is the option to party at both resorts, and the atmosphere of music, pool exercises, foam party and pool games allow for this at both resorts.

The Digs

The Caribe Princess suite featured a double large twin room, with a step down to a living room area looking out to the pool. The shower had its own closed area as did the toilet. The colors were lovely, featuring a sea blue wall. The air conditioning was excellent at this resort.

Grand Bavaro Princess featured a living area that had a walk-out deck with comfortable chairs and tables. The bed area featured two large twin beds that were set up together in the upper space. The large washroom was lovely, with a walk-in shower (no door).

The Agenda

At the Caribe Princess, I had time to read, relax and eat, of course. It was fairly easy to find space to spend some time tanning, and walking around was simple with its many paths. I even had time for a round of mini golf on the last day!

At the Grand Bavaro Princess, I spent some time walking through the ecological reserve, enjoying the mangrove forest and observing all of the wildlife in the trees (turtles, birds, iguana). There is a lovely light and fountain show just off of the main lobby of the resort that is fun to watch at night.

The Eats

It was a blessing to have the Platinum Princess area to eat in at Caribe Princess. Sit down meals and excellent and attentive service were the norm.

Grand Bavaro featured many different types of food including pizza, Italian and international options, and the Beach Grill was a wonderful place to get away from the action of the rest of the resort.

Why I Would Go Back

The people who work at the resorts are amazing. On speaking with them, many have been there for a decade and have no thoughts of leaving. It was definitely a place where I got service with a smile and was able to relax and enjoy the Dominican Republic sunshine.
