My family and I recently spent a week relaxing together at Dreams Natura Resort & Spa, just south of Cancun. We chose this resort because of its convenient location not far from the airport, easy nonstop flights and the property’s waterslides and lazy river.
The Vibe
We visited Dreams in the beginning of August so there were a lot of families enjoying their summer vacations. It worked out great because our kids easily made friends and even though the resort was close to 100% occupancy, it didn’t feel too crowded for us. We were always able to grab chairs by the beachfront infinity pool and were never far from the Barefoot Grill for lunch.

How I Felt
Our time at Dreams Natura was both relaxing and fun! The property’s compact footprint meant you never had to walk far to access any activities or dining options which we appreciated. My 10-year-old son and I loved going on the taller waterslides, especially when we shared a double tube to zoom down at record speed. My 8-year-old daughter spent much of her time floating down the lazy river and also had a lot of fun at the Explorer’s Club. My husband and I also appreciated this option for kids because it meant we were able to dine together one evening at the adults only French restaurant.
The Digs
We stayed in a Preferred Club Jr Suite Oceanview and it was bright and roomy. We’ve always enjoyed staying at Dreams Resorts for the added touches that you can’t find everywhere, like soaking tubs on the balcony (perfect for kids’ bubble baths), included 24/7 room service and tablets for viewing resort info, menus, activity schedules and more.

The Agenda
Most of our time was spent at the resort’s infinity pool, but we also had fun on a couple of day tours. We visited Xenses Park one day; I had previously been to the park in 2019 during a travel conference and was really excited to take my family to experience it. My son and I are more adventurous than my husband and daughter, so we had a lot of fun on the zipline and waterslide through the jungle while they were more intrigued by the park’s optical illusions and animals — flamingoes, parrots, fish and iguanas. We also took a day tour to Isla Mujeres for snorkeling in the crystal blue water, fishing for barracuda and exploring on a golf cart.
The Eats
We definitely never went hungry at Dreams Natura! Our favorite breakfast option was Oceana, which offers a la carte breakfast for Preferred Club guests only. For me, this was a big perk of being in that room category because I’m not always a big fan of buffets or room service first thing in the morning. My husband and I really liked the omelets, eggs benedict, mimosas and bloody Mary’s, while our kids couldn’t get enough of the fresh juices, pancakes and French toast. Most of our lunches were poolside at the Barefoot Grill which was a quick and easy option for burgers and wings. Dinners were exceptionally good with our favorites being at Himitsu, El Patio and Bordeaux.

Why I Would Go Back
Our family would happily stay at Dreams Natura again for the proximity to the airport, waterslides and overall fun atmosphere. Personally, I would be excited for a return stay to get back to the spa again. I was able to visit for hydrotherapy which I thoroughly enjoyed, and also took my daughter for her first-ever spa experience. We had fun getting our nails done and having scalp massages together.
Overall, this property is a fun getaway for adults and children alike who want to enjoy a bit of everything at their fingertips.
