The Vibe

“Ms. Swan, welcome to beautiful Punta Cana!” The first interaction I had when I arrived in the DR was with my Amstar transfer driver Juan, who was nothing short of amazing. The 45-minute drive we had from the airport to the resort, felt nothing short of 5 minutes; from looking out the window and taking in the Dominican Republic atmosphere, to conversing with our transfer drivers about everything we needed to know, we immediately felt welcomed with open arms.

Next thing we knew, we were pulling into Breathless Punta Cana and let me tell you – I have never felt so welcomed. Positive vibes floated throughout the resort, and from the guests to the employees, everyone seemed to have a smile on their face and we couldn’t wait to get situated. Once we checked in, we immediately got upgraded to the Xhale Club and from there, Carlos took care of anything we wanted: reservations, private cabanas, spa treatments – you name it.

How I Felt

Loved. The staff at this resort knew exactly who we were when we checked in, came and found us every morning to check in with us, and always brought a mouthwatering glass of champagne. If that isn’t the feeling of being loved, I’m not sure what is. You may ask, did everyone feel this loved? Yes. Every single staff member treated its guests equally and got to know them, which really goes a long way when you are on vacation.

The Digs

The Xhale Club suite we got upgraded to had a full mini bar, balcony overlooking the main pool and a big open space for us to have a dance party while we got ready for the night. We didn’t spend much time in our room as we wanted to spend as much time soaking up sun, whether it was at the beach listening to the waves crash and clear blue water float up shore, or laying pool side, we were not going inside until we absolutely needed to.

The plaza at night was the place to be with dancing, partying and fun you can’t even imagine. The entertainment team was engaging with guests, getting everyone up on their feet to join in on the party. Maybe once or twice I was up there dancing or what I thought was dancing, but it made for a fun night!

There was a separate area for guests who were a part of the Xhale Club, which we got to take advantage of, offering a private pool, private cabanas, exclusive seating at the restaurants and exclusive service.

The Agenda

My sister and I wanted to have no agenda while we were on our sister getaway. Everyday life is always on a schedule and we wanted to be able to do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted, and we did just that. Getting up at the crack of dawn, going down to the beach to watch the sunrise, heading to breakfast and finally to the pool for the day seemed to be our daily schedule. Leaving our room at 8:00 am and not returning until 6:00 or 7:00 pm was exactly what we did. Each day, we secured the best spots at the main pool where all of the entertainment, music and swim up bar were, so you knew you could find us there. Ok, maybe we did have one thing on the schedule each day, and that was the daily pool parties, from foam to disco. And being the champagne enthusiasts we are, we made sure we had front row seats to the Champagne Pool Party, of course.

The Eats

Barefoot Grill, the beachside grill, had burgers, fries and nachos, and all of the food was easy to quickly grab and get back out to the pool. We found ourselves eating there a lot during the day to hold us over for our night time dining. Silk City, the hibachi restaurant, had a fun ambience (no, I didn’t catch the shrimp in my mouth) and was good for any group size. The French cuisine at Coquette was nothing short of delicious. I LOVE Mexican food and Picante was a mouth-watering restaurant right by the beach. Mexican food by the ocean? What more can you ask for? Count me in!

Why I Would Go Back

The staff. The staff at Breathless Punta Cana have truly left a lasting impression on me. They welcomed every guest that walks into the resort with open arms and made sure we were taken care of every second we were there. This level of service goes along way and it was important to us to give that gratitude back to them. I would recommend this resort to everyone looking to have a once-in-a-lifetime vacation experience. Breathless Punta Cana, I will be back.
