There are so many of us in the world that love to travel. Some even love it so much that they jump into the industry because it is their passion. I am one of those that joined the industry not having any idea how much this passion was going to grow in me! I love my job, because it allows me to travel and feed that hunger. A week ago, Taylor one of our editors, shared this article: Why We Love the Travel Industry, where members of the VAX team shared our reason. In addition to what I shared in the article, I just really love that travel releases us from the daily grind and often provides the rest, relaxation and rejuvenation that we don’t frequently allow ourselves in our everyday environment.

Travel has stolen my heart

I also believe that travel makes us better citizens of the world because the experiences of the different cultures and landscapes helps us to appreciate how we live our lives to ensure they can be sustained and the natural beauty protected.

That article inspired me to learn from more people in the industry what they love about travel. Here are a few responses.

“I LOVE travel because it provides me with an opportunity for new experiences in culture, scents and human connection. It takes me out of my comfort zone and forces me to adapt to the current environment. It helps me discover who I can be and who I want to become as a person. It teaches me life lessons.” – Emmy Kim, global director of sales, events for Travel Weekly, Northstar Travel Group

“For me, the thing I love most is the independence. Prior to joining the industry, I would hardly fly alone. Now, I travel the world alone!! Making friends and connections everywhere I go. It’s the little things. The surprises around each corner and moments that create amazing memories.” – Kimberlee Evan, owner of An Extraordinary Traveler

“I love to travel for a couple of reasons; 1. Experiencing new things that are out of the ordinary of your normal routine. 2. Brings people closer together and 3. Opportunities to grow and learn about the world around us.” – Coach Martin from Nexion

“The people I’m with and the friends we meet along the way. Whether it is other tourists or people in destination, learning about their culture and history. Being immersed in my surroundings instead of work, finances, daily stress is a welcome diversion. Travel takes me on a new adventure no matter where I go!” – Dream Vacations franchise owner Debbie Tatter

Now it is no secret that the travel industry is suffering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and so that led me to ask what these people thought the world needed to hear or know right now regarding travel.

Debbie Tatter reminds you, “There are beautiful place to go now. Many destinations we love need our support now to survive. Work with a travel advisor that is certified in the current safety protocols and government regulations. They can guide you to make it a trip of your dreams now. Don’t forget…book now for great pricing even if you want to travel later.”

Kimberlee Evans added, “What the world needs to hear right now is that we are all feeling the same desires. Everyone in every part of the world misses tourism. People in other countries, cities and cultures. Travel will resume and hopefully, we will have a renewed view on the world.”

Emmy Kim shared, “The world needs to know that travel is innate, whether you’ve never been on a plane or traveled a million times, there is a wanderlust in all of us. The current state of the world will not remain this way. We have to all do our part to get things right and we will be back to discovering the world.”

Coach Martin says, “How to experience travel for people who think it is out of reach. How to make the impossible trip possible. How to get outside your comfort zone safely.”

It is not surprising that some responses included the value of travel advisors. Some of your next steps might be to share these with your clients and the world to help jump-start the industry. I hope that their thoughts and insights help you and your clients to feel better about the future of travel. The return to travel is imminent, and there are many studies showing that it will likely explode when the gates open. I personally, am so ready!
