We all know people who have a deep love for their pets! I know for me, each one of my dogs that I’ve had have become a family member and hold a special place in my heart. Hudson, my current dog, has taught us to travel a bit more with him and enjoy his company on the road.

We certainly aren’t the only family to travel with our dog; there is a growing demand to keep pets close-by even during travels. I do believe that is why they earned the term “best friend.”

I’m sure many of you have tales to tell about including your clients’ pets in their travels. Have you ever had a client that didn’t share they were traveling with their pet, yet they did, and smuggled them into another country and resort? I know somewhere along the lines of my travels for VAX, an agent has shared that story with me. I can’t put a name or face to the story so I won’t share that info, but that puts glow in the term glorious aspects of your job to get your client out of a bind! We want to give you the resources to avoid this happening to you and your clients with the Furward Momentum: Celebrating Pet-Friendly Travel page on VAX.

This Specialty Travel page provides you with a wealth of resources and planning tips for anyone that is planning to travel with their furry friend including:

  • American Veterinary Medical Association advice to know before they go and a checklist for what to pack
  • Airlines links to find restrictions and requirements for flying with pets
  • A robust list of pet-friendly digs and links to the hotels in many popular destinations
  • Pet shareables including hashtags and images for social media

Tell us your pet-booking or travel stories, and if you’re the agent that told me the story above, please let us know!
