Following a multi-million-dollar investment across several of its hotels in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, things are looking a bit different at several Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts properties. And while many of these properties have been upgraded to feature updated leisure and restaurant areas, one of the things we’re most excited about is the addition of new, premium room categories featuring locally inspired design elements. Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda
Now featuring additional dining options, upscale amenities and more room categories, Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda offers travelers of all ages something to look forward to in the beautiful Dominican Republic. These exciting changes come following a $35 million renovation in 2023 where the beachside property underwent a massive makeover and remerged under the brand’s “Taíno Soul” concept which features design elements and curated amenities inspired by the Taíno, the Indigenous people of the Caribbean.

In addition to the hotel’s classic “Junior Suite Deluxe” and “Connecting Junior Suite Deluxe” room categories, Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda now offers a new, premium “Junior Suite De Luxe Swim Up.” This swanky room option is available with either one king-size bed or two full-size beds and can sleep a maximum occupancy of three adults and one child or two adults and two children. As for the vibe, each Junior Suite De Luxe Swim Up room features a clean and comfortable design with a natural color palette, warm lighting and modern furnishings in addition to a spacious patio area with direct pool access.
Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal
Situated just west of Cozumel, Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal is an upscale all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya that’s perfect for those looking to sample the life of luxury alongside the sparkling sea. With daily activities, unlimited dining, a variety of bars, an on-site PGA-approved golf course and nearby shopping at Hacienda Doña, visitors will never run out of things to do. Plus, with the brand’s Exchange Privileges program, guests can take advantage of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resort’s internal shuttle service to explore neighboring properties including Bahia Principe Grand Tulum, Bahia Principe Grand Coba and Bahia Principe Luxury Sian Kaan.

Over the last several months, Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal has undergone a major renovation to update its rooms and common spaces alongside a refresh to its onsite culinary concepts. In addition to updating its previously existing accommodations, the property now features two additional premium room categories for visitors to choose from — “Junior Suite Premium” and “Junior Suite Deluxe Swim Up.” Both of the property’s new room categories drew inspiration from the Mayan Gold Culture, something guests will notice in their usage of natural colors, wood furnishings and rustic touches. The new Junior Suite Premium room category features one king-size bed and can sleep three adults and one child or two adults and two children; the new Junior Suite Deluxe Swim Up room features direct swimming pool access, has one king-size bed and can sleep three adults and one child or two adults and two children.
Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro
Alongside its neighboring sister resort, Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro is a charming beachfront hotel focused on personalized, all-inclusive vacations. At this family-friendly property, visitors will enjoy delightful dining options, comfortable accommodations and endless activities including Bahia Principe Hotel & Resorts’ Exchange Privileges program which allows guests to explore nearby Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana and Bahia Principe Grand Turquesa through an onsite shuttle service.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro made headlines upon wrapping up a major renovation in December 2023 where the hotel worked to create La Isla — a refurbished area with a variety of food options and entertainment near the main swimming pool — and reimagined its variety of rooms. As part of this project, the hotel introduced “Junior Suite Premium” and “2 Bedroom Suite,” two new premium, family-friendly room categories suitable for travelers of all ages. Junior Suite Premium is available with one king-size bed or two full-size beds and one sofa and can sleep two adults and two children or three adults and one child; 2 Bedroom Suite comprises one room with a king-size bed and one double sofa bed in the other room and is ideal for families and friends with the ability to sleep four adults and one child or three adults and two children.
Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica
A stylish home base for travelers to discover the tasty cuisine, enchanting rhythms and spectacular landscapes of Jamaica, Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica is a family-friendly, all-inclusive resort nestled just off the coast of the Caribbean Sea. This newly updated property has all the bells and whistles travelers have come to expect from an all-inclusive escape including seven onsite restaurants, 10 bars, three pools, a relaxing spa and more. As part of the hotel’s recent renovation, Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica now includes two additional room categories giving visitors more options than ever — “Junior Suite Premium” and “Junior Suite Premium Ocean Front.” Mirror versions of each other, both rooms are available with either one king-size bed or two queen-size beds and can sleep three adults and one child or two adults and two children. Inside the new suites, guests will slip into a vacation state of mind with bright pops of color, tropical-themed wallpaper, sleek furnishings and breezy patio access.
