Got sun and sand on the mind? Popular travel brand Expedia has made it easier than ever to keep up with the buzziest island destinations thanks to the recent release of its 2025 “Island Hot List.” Comprising 10 global locales that “reflect modern travelers’ values,” according to Expedia, the brand compared factors like traveler interest, accommodation rates, flight and lodging accessibility, quality of hotels, weather and seasonality, tourism appeal and traveler safety to crown its top-ranking island escapes for vacationers in 2025.
While always a prevalent option among travel advisors and their clients, Expedia’s research found that interest in visiting and staying on islands is on the rise globally, with the brand reporting a 30% uptick in searches for island accommodations on its platform compared to this time last year.
“Powered by real traveler data, the Expedia Island Hot List gives travelers the inspiration they need to plan a smarter island escape,” said Melanie Fish, head of brands and public relations for Expedia Group. “Island adventurers want standout stays, affordable prices and seamless flight access.”
