The April 8 total solar eclipse is quickly approaching. Do you have plans for the momentous occasion? If the answer is “no,” fret not, Loews Hotels & Co is throwing celestial celebrations at several of its properties to help travelers and locals alike take in the wonder of the unique phenomena. Read on to start planning for the big day.
Path of Totality
Loews Hotels & Co has two properties within the path of totality: Loews Arlington Hotel and Live! by Loews - Arlington. Inspired by the stars, from April 5 - 8, visitors to The Spa and Salon at Loews Arlington Hotel can indulge in a Solar Eclipse Moonstone Massage. The celestial service will be a rejuvenating full body massage using warm, hand-carved salt stones from the Himalayan Mountains combined with the healing energy of Moonstone crystals to invoke a sense of deep relation in the mind, body and spirit. The profound 80-minute experience is said to improve sleep, reduce inflammation and leave participants with a deep sense of emotional tranquility. The Solar Eclipse Moonstone Massage will cost $280.
Nearby Live! by Loews - Arlington will host a poolside Solar Eclipse Viewing Party from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on April 8, 2024. During this out of this world celebration guests will be encouraged to sip on cosmic cocktails and enjoy live music performed by local artists — all while donning complimentary commemorative solar eclipse glasses. Those looking to take the celebration to the next level can rent poolside cabanas or purchase additional food and beverage options from SOAK, the hotel’s stylish swim up bar.
Partial Path
Loews Chicago Hotel is in the partial path of totality and will offer visitors the opportunity to observe the total solar eclipse on April 8 from Streeterville Social, the property’s third-floor rooftop terrace. To mark the momentous occasion, the hotel will preview exclusive cocktails and starters from its new Streeterville Social menu at the ETA Lobby Bar. Each purchase of a cocktail or menu item will earn attendees a complimentary pair of viewing glasses in addition to access to the event.
More Celestial-Themed Fun
While not in the path of totality, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and Loews Miami Beach offer plenty of celestial-themed fun for space geeks throughout the year. At Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, guests can take advantage of the property’s weekly stargazing program which allows participants to observe stars, planets and galaxies through an onsite telescope. The program is run in collaboration with UA Mount Lemmon SkyCenter and visitors are guided by an expert educator throughout the evening.
In Florida, travelers can familiarize themselves with the stories behind constellations and astronomy when they take advantage of Loews Miami Beach’s partnership with the acclaimed Frost Science Museum. Here, guests can marvel at the stars when they enjoy pop-up planetariums, night telescope sessions and more.
