Following in the footsteps of one of America’s legendary outdoorsmen while experiencing two iconic national parks, Amtrak Vacations has unveiled its newest itinerary, “Yellowstone to Yosemite by Rail – Teddy Roosevelt Trail.”

The trip, which spans two weeks and half a continent from Chicago to San Francisco, features multiple overnights at hotels adjacent to both Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks, as well as two nights onboard Amtrak’s legendary California Zephyr. Included as well are hotel stays in the starting and ending cities as well as Salt Lake City, and sightseeing activities in each destination.

Approximating the same route featured in the recently-released television program, “Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner,” Amtrak Vacations’ newest trip re-traces the 26th President of the United States’s journey from America’s first national park to the Yosemite Valley of California with naturalist John Muir, eventually leading to the establishment of Yosemite National Park.

Pricing begins at $2,679 per person, inclusive of rail, hotel, sightseeing and other activities as listed in the itinerary.

Amtrak Vacations features nearly 200 independent journeys that feature America’s National Parks, each featuring hand-picked hotel accommodations and sightseeing activities along with scenic train journeys onboard Amtrak, the United States’ national rail system. Each trip can begin or end at any of the hundreds of Amtrak stations across 46 U.S. states, and can be customized to add nights, upgrade hotels and rail classes, and much more.
