A tropical paradise awaits your clients on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu. While they may want to simply relax and unwind, ensure that they explore all that Oahu has to offer with these 11 recommendations crowdsourced by our very own VAX agents.

  1. Iconic Pearl Harbor is a must see. For snorkeling, I recommend Hanauma Bay. If your clients are driving themselves, be there at opening time, the parking lot is small and fills quickly.
Elizabeth H., The Happiest Places Travel in North Carolina
  2. Waikiki Beach is great for all ages and first time surfers to learn. Be sure to hike Diamond Head for beautiful views. Snorkel Hanauma Bay and visit the nesting turtles at North Shore.
Cathy A., Expedia Cruise Ship in British Columbia
  3. Many clients wish to see the Arizona Memorial; book one of many Arizona tours before arrival; it makes it simpler. Be sure to book a quality luau; pay more for a better experience. If staying at an oceanfront hotel property, have a pre-dinner drink and enjoy the sunset on the ocean.
Elfie C., Global Connections Travel in Kansas
  4. The one thing I would highly suggest is for clients to rent a car! There are so many things to do on their own without taking tours. First and foremost is hikes, second is traveling the island and going to the different beaches, third, eating at local places, fourth, Pearl Harbor on your own so that you are not rushed. Get to Pearl Harbor early (around 7-8 am) and you might be able to receive free, yes, free tickets to the boat ride over to the memorial. (We did!)
Deborah S., Anthem Travel in Arizona
  5. Oahu offers many non-stop flights from most U.S. mainland cities. Oahu is usually the first destination in Hawaii visited by first time visitors. It offers history, culture, nightlife, beaches, and romance with a variety of lodging options.
Jana W., America’s Travel Companies Inc. in Texas
  6. Rent snorkel equipment from Snorkel Bob's and keep it with you at all times! You never know when you'll come across a beautiful beach along the way, and this way you can hop out and snorkel in some off-the-beaten path areas, away from the crowds. If you're island-hopping, you can even rent it from one island and return it to another! So convenient!
Suzanne S., Marvelous Mouse Travel in Maryland
  7. Lanikai Beach is a MUST, it’s absolutely beautiful! Do some easy cliff jumping at Cockroach Cove or play in the breakers at Waimea Bay. Also, try a slice of Lilikoi pie!
Kathryn J., Kate’s Escapes LLC in Minnesota
  8. I always recommend to my clients to attend any of the luaus to experience the dancing and entertainment, and enjoy the food and interactive activities with the dancers.
Litaun L., Lewis Dream Vacation Travel in Missouri
  9. Don't skip out on a visit to Waimea Falls Park. It is good for all age groups. You can learn a lot about the island and are rewarded at the end of a short hike with a beautiful waterfall.
Tia D., Places & Spaces Travel in Maryland
  10. Suggest to your clients the Waianae Coast; it has the best place to snorkel with turtles and dolphins. January through March is the best time to view humpback whales. Also, Paradise Cove has the best luau!
Patty G., Travel Secrets by Patty in Pennsylvania
  11. Snorkel or dive, get out on the water! I personally love fishing, so a fishing charter, where you can get out on the water and view the sea life is a great idea! If you don't fish, island hopping will show you the different personalities of the islands. Go travel to different areas and be sure to eat Hawaiian cuisine.
Margie L., Wonderland Family Vacations in Michigan
